North Greenville University’s Cline School of Music is hosting a magnificent night of music by Eric Ewazen, an internationally acclaimed composer, on Tuesday, March 26.
Ewazen's musical accomplishments are staggering. He has received degrees from Eastman School of Music and The Juilliard School, his works have been performed by many artists in the U.S. and other countries and many record labels have recorded his works.
Needless to say, Ewazen's reputation precedes him, and it is a rare privilege to have him on the NGU campus. The entire concert will be composed of his works and he will be introducing and discussing them throughout the evening.
Among those performing will be Katherine Porch, soprano, and Martha Kitterman, flute. Porch is a magnificent singer who has performed worldwide and is currently an NGU adjunct voice professor. Kitterman, who has performed with numerous orchestras and smaller ensembles, is also on faculty of the Cline School of Music.
Ewazen composed a piece entitled “Of Sea and Stars” in 2005 specifically for Porch and is among the works that will be performed in the recital. According to Porch, “This is a landmark event for us at NGU...”
The concert is at 7pm on Tuesday, March 26 in The Hamlin Recital Hall. The event is free of charge and all are invited to come and experience this wonderful night of music.
