Sarah Yates, Miss NGU 2011, passed her crown to
Currie Dickerson from Plant City, FL at the 58th Annual Miss NGU Pageant on
Saturday, October 22 in Turner Chapel.
Dickerson, who was also chosen as Miss Photogenic, won a $1,000 scholarship and will compete next summer in the Miss South Carolina Pageant.
The first runner-up honor went to Hannah Failoni from Columbia.
Amanda Styles from Travelers Rest was named third runner-up and Lauren Jones from Honea Path placed fourth.
“My goal,” said Dickerson, “is to serve the students and faculty, while representing the school in any positive way I can.”
Contestants were judged according to an interview, physical fitness, onstage questions, artistic expression (talent) and presence and poise. The interview (25 percent of the final score) and physical fitness (15 percent) portions of the competition were completed prior to the pageant ceremony.
