Greetings from the Dean
Welcome to the College of Education! Committed to the university mission of Christian education in a biblically sound environment, we prepare our teacher candidates to be successful teachers in diverse learning environments. Our conceptual framework, "Teacher as Effective Practitioner, Caring Leader, and Lifelong Learner" is based on beliefs about how best to prepare teacher candidates to become effective, reflective, and facilitative practitioners, equipped with the knowledge, skills and dispositions of an outstanding teacher. These beliefs rest on the Bible as the solid foundation for a philosophy of education and of life, in keeping with the Christian commitment of the institution. Our programs are approved by both state and national accrediting agencies. Candidates who fulfill the requirements of any one of our several programs will receive licensure in South Carolina. Since numerous states practice reciprocity with South Carolina, candidates often find employment in other states as well. In addition to strong academic preparation, our teacher candidates participate in professional organizations and clubs that provide experiential and leadership opportunities. As Dean of the College of Education, I am very proud of the quality of our faculty. Not only are they successful practitioners, but also adept and experienced in intellectual pursuits. What I find most valuable is their Christian commitment to providing the best model for our students.
