Meredith Lewellen, Miss North Greenville University 2013, passed her crown to Kaylie Givens from Rocky Mount, NC at the 60th annual Miss NGU Pageant on Saturday, October 19 in Turner Chapel.
Givens, who was also won the Miss Congeniality award, won a $1,000 scholarship and will compete next summer in the Miss South Carolina Pageant.
The first runner-up honor went to Megan Lindler from Prosperity.
Lindsay Burris from Sanford, NC was second runner-up.
Shannon Penton from Westminster was named third runner-up and Laura Harrison from Landrum placed fourth and received the most photogenic and community support awards.
Givens’ platform supports the National Association of Down Syndrome. “Having a nephew with Down syndrome has led my family to realize that being in support groups are invaluable,” said Givens.
Contestants were judged according to a private interview, sportswear/physical fitness, onstage questions, artistic expression, and presence and poise.
