Tigerville, SC -
Dedicated pastor, best-selling author, dynamic speaker and one of the most
prominent Bible teachers of our day, Dr. David Jeremiah, will be joined by his
worship pastor and nationally known Christian recording artist, Charles
Billingsley on Thursday, October 19 to assist NGU in a fundraising event.
It is the prayer of the University to raise $1 million at
this event to transform the former Tigerville Elementary School into a
state-of-the-art theatre to be used for quality Christian plays. This
building, along with the historic Runion Creative Arts Building (the former
Roe Building) will be the anchors of The Village at Tigerville which
will include an art gallery, restaurants, a bank, antique and craft shops,
museums and other types of family strengthening activities.
“This was the brainchild of Jack and Patty Billingsley,” said Dr. Epting.
“I told them about the theatre and The Village and that excited them.
They have many alumni in their family. He grew up in the community and has
many fond memories.”
Billingsley said he thought his relative Charles Billingsley may be able
to do a concert for NGU. “Charles is the worship pastor at Dr. David
Jeremiah’s church and it was suggested that maybe Dr. Jeremiah could come and
speak,” said Epting. “So now both have agreed to come and do this for the
University. They are excited about helping us build this theatre and The
Village. They are working with us to promote this amazing event.”
Jeremiah is the pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church in
San Diego, CA. Millions hear him preach God's word every week on his
Turning
Point radio and television ministry.
Billingsley is the former lead singer of
Christian group NewSong, as well as an accomplished solo artist with several
hit songs, including Marks of a Mission.
NGU would like to see hundreds of people commit to make this vision a
reality. “We are praying that God will do something so big, and in such a way,
that no man could take credit for it,” said Epting.
To be part of this historic evening in Todd Dining Hall, a gift of $500
will reserve one table for eight at the 6:30 p.m. banquet. An additional gift
of $250 makes it possible for you and a guest to attend a reception honoring
Mr. Billingsley and Dr. Jeremiah. Those gifts should be in as soon as possible
to reserve a table.
There will also be a worship service beginning at 8 p.m. held in Turner
Chapel featuring Jeremiah and Billingsley. Tickets for this event are $25
(adults), $10 (ages 6-12). At both services Jeremiah will preach a message,
while Billingsley will perform some of his classic songs.
