Dr. Jeff Briggs is in his 13th year as a professor in sport management at North Greenville University. He earned the Ph.D. in sport management from The Florida State University in 1999. Dr. Briggs is a professor and the Department Chairman for the Sport Management Department, and coordinates all Physical Education service courses at North Greenville University. Dr. Briggs is an adjunct professor at Clemson University and Central Michigan University in both Sport Management Departments and is also President and CEO of Briggs Consulting.

Dr. Briggs has published over 150 articles, instructional manuals, and research materials for local, state, and national organizations; Bowling This Month Magazine, 7-10 Split Magazine, The Asian Bowling Digest, The Nebraska Alliance of Bowling Coaches, Pro Shop Today, and newspapers nationwide. His most popular publication, The Bowling-Specific Training Manual, is now in its 4th edition and has sold several thousand copies in over 50 different countries. Dr. Briggs has had over 120 professional presentations since 1994 and conducts annual seminars in New York, Chicago, and Washington D.C.


      Dr. Briggs holds professional memberships in the:

  • North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM)
  • American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (AAHPERD)
  • North Greenville University Sport Management Society (SMS)



Briggs continues to stay active in the sport profession in two additional ways. First, he often coordinates students, graduates, and the general population to support operations and activities of local and regional sport organizations (road races, racquetball tournaments, senior & disabled Olympics, bowling tournaments, collegiate athletics, fund raisers, etc. Second, he personally volunteers in management and administration for several sport organizations annually. Most recently he has coordinated volunteer activities and worked with the administrators of:

  • Presbyterian College Athletic Department (football operations)
  • North Greenville University Athletic Department
  • USC-Aiken Athletic Department (basketball operations)
  • Peach Belt Conference Menís & Womenís Basketball Tournament
  • United States Bowling Congress (ABC, YABA, & USAB)
  • North Greenville University Development Office (fundraising through sport)


An ordained Small Group Pastor at the Vineyard Church of Greenville, he routinely preaches several Sundays annually. He has led a Vineyard Kinship for over four years, serves on the Hospitality Ministry, is a ministry student of the Vineyard Leadership Institute (VLI), serves in the Menís Ministry, and regularly leads special projects at the church gathering people to do Kingdom work for the Lord.

Dr. Briggs is married to Sara and they are raising two wonderful daughters, Hannah and Rebekah, and a son Joshua, born in November 2011.  He enjoys bowling, racquetball, squash, exercise, and cheers on all Cleveland, Ohio and Ohio State University sport teams.
