Master of Medical Science in P.A. Medicine Receives Accreditation

North Greenville University’s T. Walter Brashier Graduate School has received approval from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) for its Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant (P.A.) Medicine degree program.

SACSCOC, the regional body for the accreditation of degree-granting higher education institutions in the Southern states, notified the university on November 1 that the new program has been approved to be offered at its new off-campus instructional site located at 405 Lancaster Avenue in Greer, effective January 2017. Twenty students have been selected out of over 500 applicants to participate in NGU’s inaugural class.

North Greenville’s P.A. program is one of 218 programs in the nation, one of three in South Carolina, and the only program offered in the Upstate.

Dr. J. Samuel Isgett, vice president for adult and graduate studies, says the accreditation validates the school’s longstanding commitment to quality Christ-centered education.

“We’re delighted that the SACSCOC has once again extended accreditation to the NGU T. Walter Brashier Graduate School,” says Isgett. “They are the premier accrediting body and this news affirms the great work done by our faculty and staff.”

The mission of the SACSCOC is to assure the educational quality and improve the effectiveness of its member institutions. SACSCOC has six core values: integrity, continuous quality improvement, peer review/self-regulation, accountability, student learning, and transparency.

A peer review team will visit the Greer campus in February to review the graduate school’s new Doctor of Education and Physician Assistant programs as well as evaluate NGU’s new facility.

The North Greenville University T. Walter Brashier Graduate School offers graduate degrees in Business Administration, Ministry, Church Growth and Renewal, Missions and Evangelism, Spiritual Formation and Discipleship, Divinity, Teaching English, Teaching Math, Teaching Science, Education, K-12 Leadership, Higher Education Leadership, and Music Education. All programs will be fully operational at its Lancaster Avenue, Greer location in January.
