The Center for College Affordability and Productivity analyzed reviews of professors posted by millions of college students on RateMyProfessors.com and put together a list of the 25 colleges with the worst professors, and the 25 with the best.
North Greenville University is ranked fifth among schools with the best professors. NGU was the only South Carolina school to be listed in the rankings released this week. Only three schools from the southeastern United States were ranked in the top 25.
All of the schools listed in the top 25 are small private institutions. Most of the schools are liberal arts colleges with student bodies well under 4,000 students. This statistic is not surprising since liberal arts colleges tend to offer smaller classes and the prime focus of professors at these schools is teaching as opposed to research.
The Center for College Affordability and Productivity, an education think tank, crunched the figures from RateMyProfessors, which maintains the Internetís largest collection of college professor ratings. This site contains more than 11 million ratings on over one million professors. The center examined the teacher evaluations as part of its process of producing the annual college rankings for Forbes magazine.
