The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held their Atlanta Collegiate Amateur Challenge as part of the Hurricane Collegiate Amateur Series this week. Collegiate players from all corners of the southeast region, including Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas, and Tennessee, came to compete in the event. Thirty one (31) young men and women battled it out, for three rounds, on the Chateau Course at the Chateau Elan Golf Club in Braselton, GA.
The top place in the Menís Collegiate Division was taken by Josh ONeal of Simpsonville, SC and current student of North Greenville University. ONeal finished the tournament with an impressive score of +1. ONealís three day tournament score came to a total of 214 (69+76+69), this total was enough to secure him a five (5) stroke victory over the next closest competitor. ONeal stayed consistent throughout the tournament, using an impressive eleven (11) birdies and the lowest par 4 average (4.06) in the Menís division to edge out his competition. He was near the top in almost every statistical category, including a par 5 average below par (4.78), a par 3 average of even par (3.00), and finally he had the second most par breakers with 20.4%.
