North Greenville University’s Department of History & Political Science is pleased to announce that in honor of the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation Dr. Carey H. Latimore, IV will give the department’s annual Hickson Lecture, titled “Slavery and Freedom: African American Life in the Era of the Emancipation Proclamation.”
Dr. Latimore serves as Associate Professor of History at Trinity University (San Antonio, TX), Chair of the History Department, and co-Director of Trinity’s African American Studies program. His honors and awards include election to the Educator’s Hall of Fame at the Phi Delta Kappa, Gamma Tau Chapter. He also serves as Associate Minister at Mt. Zion First Baptist Church, San Antonio.
