One of the nationís most highly acclaimed aquatics experts and the current Dean of the College of Business and Sport Professions, Dr. Ralph Johnson is in his 18th year as a faculty member in the sport management program at North Greenville University.

His expertise in aquatic research is highly respected and sought out by universities, aquatic agencies, federal, state and foreign governments and attorneys throughout the United States, North America and the Caribbean Basin.

Dr. Johnson earned the B.S. in Education with majors in Social Studies and Health and Physical Education from Youngstown State University, M.Edís in Physical Education and Recreation Administration from Slippery Rock University of Philadelphia, and a Ph.D. in Sport Administration from The University of Pittsburgh.  In addition to teaching Sport Management courses, he is responsible for directing five undergraduate degree granting programs and coordinating a Masterís Degree in Business Administration at the North Greenville University.
Dr. Johnson has been an adjunct graduate faculty member at Clemson University and has served on thesis and dissertation committees at the University of Pittsburgh, University of New Mexico and the University of Idaho. 

Dr. Johnson retired from the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education in 1997 after serving 25 years as Director of Aquatic Facilities and Programs and Coordinator of Graduate Studies in Sport Science at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  He is an internationally known speaker and consultant for the YMCA of the USA, American Red Cross, Department of the Navy, the Aquatic Council of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD), USA Diving and the United States Lifeguard Standards Coalition. 

Dr. Johnson provides legal consulting and expert services for both plaintiff and defense attorneys in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean Islands and is an aquatic risk consultant for Hartford, Cincinnati, St. Pauls, Fireman Fund, USF&G, Crawford, Alexander & Alexander, Gallagher, Willis and Lloyds of London Insurance brokers companies. 

He is the author of more than 110 textbooks, research studies, instructional videos and professional articles in a variety of aquatic areas. Forty-eight of these textbooks have been published since the beginning of his career at NGU.  His expertise encompasses aquatic liability, lifeguard training, swimming pool operation, aquatic facility design, hazard identification and risk control, SCUBA diving, swimming and diving instruction and small craft activities, as well as drowning and diving accidents.

Dr. Johnson is founder, President, and CEO of Professional Aquatic Risk Management Associates (PARMA) in Greer, SC.

Dr. Johnson resides in Greer, South Carolina with his wife Jane. He has three grown daughters and four grandchildren.
