Whitehead to present Guest Voice Recital Thursday

Jennifer Whitehead, a Columbus, Ohio native, who frequently appears in both staged and concert works in central Ohio, will be presenting a voice recital on the campus of North Greenville University on Thursday, November 10 at 8:00 p.m. in Hamlin Recital Hall.

Whitehead's recent roles with Opera / Columbus include Kate in MADAME BUTTERFLY, Guinevere in CAMELOT, Papagena in THE MAGIC FLUTE, and Yum-Yum in THE MIKADO.  Additionally, she has performed solo concert work with the Columbus Bach Ensemble, the Columbus Symphony, the Westerville Civic Symphony, and the orchestras and choirs at Kenyon College, Otterbein College, and Denison University.  She holds a Master of Music degree in vocal performance from Ohio State University and is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Musical Arts in voice from OSU.

Accompaning Whitehead is pianist Edward Bak, professor at the Ohio State University School of  Music and is the principal coach accompanist with Opera Columbus. Bak appears regularly in concert with established artists and emerging talents, and has been heard in such venues as the Teatro Colon, The Monnaie, The Festival Lanaudiere, The Philips Collection, and Kolarac Hall. He is active as a chamber musician and as such has shared the stage with members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, The Philadelphia Orchestra, The Cleveland Orchestra, and the Chicago Symphony. He is a regular faculty member at Prelude to Performance in New York City, and the AIMS institute in Graz, Austria.
