Yates Crowned Miss NGU 2011

Leah Gravely, Miss North Greenville University 2010, passed her crown to Sarah Yates, of Greer, at the 56th Miss NGU Pageant on Saturday, October 16 in Turner Chapel.

Yates won the interview section of the competition, a $1,000 scholarship, and will compete next summer in the Miss South Carolina Pageant.

First runner-up Mya Hipps of Gastonia, NC won the lifestyle and fitness award.

Meredith Lewellen of Landrum was second runner-up and received the talent honors for the evening.

Hanna Failoni of Columbia was named third runner-up and Gayla Brown of Laurens placed fourth.

Contestants were judged according to an interview, physical fitness (swimsuit), onstage question, artistic expression (talent) and presence and poise. The interview (25 percent of the final score) and physical fitness (15 percent) portions of the competition were completed prior to the pageant ceremony.
