“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden... In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven."
  • Expertise
I am, first and foremost, an educator. I have experience teaching students of all ages, from preschoolers to adults. I love working with students, and I believe all students can be successful in music. I have performance experience in concert band, orchestra, choir, brass band, and marching band on French horn and Eb tenor horn, as well as flute/piccolo, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, and percussion.
  • Research Interests
I do research on assessment methods for secondary students in instrumental music classes, particularly on how to eliminate the stigma around performance assessments. There are so many ways to gamify assessment strategies and eliminate the development of performance anxiety from a young age. I'm also passionate about finding new ways to connect historical and classical music to modern pop music! There can be ties between compositional strategies, subject matter, musicality, and other elements. We can find connections to older music through the lens of what we are comfortable listening to on the radio.
