The Office of Marketing and Communications (MAC) supports North Greenville University by managing all branding, marketing, and communications for the university.

As a university, we value and desire consistency across all of our marketing and communications, whether online or in print. By using consistent brand and style, we ensure that our work is efficient, effective, and supportive of the university’s mission.

LaVerne Howell

Director of Communications

LaVerne Howell serves as NGU’s director of communications. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the University of South Carolina (USC) in 1987. Howell first came to NGU in 1996 as assistant director for development and then served in numerous roles in the Office of Advancement. His family are members of Berea First Baptist Church in Greenville, SC, where he and his wife, Susan, are involved in the music ministry. His son, Pace, currently attends USC. In his free time, Howell sings baritone with the Greenville Chorale. He is also a certified judge with the Miss South Carolina and Miss America pageant organizations.


Rebeka Epps, B.S.

Photographer / Videographer

Rebeka joined NGU serves as the photographer and videographer for the marketing team. Rebeka graduated from Milligan College in 2016 with a B.S. in Communication with an emphasis in Digital Media. After graduating from Milligan, she worked in Bristol, Tennessee in television production for 2 years.

Rebeka and her husband Derrick enjoy spending time on the lake, watching college football, spending time with family, and serving at their church. She looks forward to getting to know the students and working with them as a team to reach their full potential. Rebeka is excited about moving to the upstate and joining the NGU family.

Adam Knechtel, B.A.

Content Specialist

Adam Knechtel joined the NGU family in 2020 and serves as the content specialist for the Office of Marketing and Communications. Shortly after graduating from California Baptist University in 2013, Adam and his wife, Amber, moved from the deserts of Southern California to the mountains of Western North Carolina.

Prior to NGU, Adam worked as the Media Director for Camp Highlander, overseeing their social media, website, blog, magazine, and various digital/print operations. He and his wife enjoy exploring all that the Carolina's have to offer – especially the local dining, entertainment, and endless outdoor activities!

Jackson Bailey, B.A.

Web Developer

Jackson Bailey serves as the Web Developer for the Office of Marketing and Communications. He graduated from North Greenville University in 2016 with a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies, with a primary concentration in Linguistics secondary concentration in English.

After graduation, he worked in sales for 4 years. While working in sales, he also ran his own Ecommerce company and taught himself front-end web development. In his free time, Jackson enjoys spending time with his wife, Alicia, practicing martial arts, going to the gym, and gaming.
