NGU Partners New Dual Credit Program With Upstate Homeschool Co-Op

Tigerville, SC (March 5, 2020) North Greenville University (NGU) and Upstate Homeschool Co-Op (UHC) have agreed to provide dual credit beginning the 2020-21 academic year according to the terms outlined in a memorandum of agreement.
The NGU High School Dual Credit Program is designed to provide college credit to qualified secondary students before their high school graduation. All courses offered through dual credit are also taught on NGU’s Tigerville Campus and compare in course content, course prerequisites, student expectations, and student learning outcomes to the equivalent on-campus course.
Dual credit will be transcripted by NGU as full college credit, transferable to other colleges and universities according to their institutional policies for accepting such credit. Students must meet all admission and registration requirements, satisfy all tuition and fee obligations, and complete the course to receive college credit from NGU.
“The Upstate Homeschool Co-operative is excited about the upcoming dual enrollment partnership with North Greenville University to begin in the 2020-21 school year. This partnership will give our qualified upperclassmen opportunities for advanced courses on our campus while continuing their high school work,” said Upstate Homeschool Co-op Executive Director Suzanne Brown.
Brown says that because many of their students are spread geographically into the four corners of the upstate, they hope that bringing these classes to where their students are, will ease any transportation issues families may have.
“NGU has a strong reputation for caring about their students and promoting excellence in our community and we are thrilled to join that community,” said Brown.
According to the agreement, NGU, consistent with requirements for regional accreditation, will be solely responsible for the institutional and academic oversight of all courses offered through the NGU College High School Dual Credit Program, including appropriate accreditation. This agreement is contingent upon the availability of suitable space on the UHC campus.
“We could not be more excited about this dual credit partnership with Upstate Homeschool Co-Op. We share a common commitment to Christ-centered education, and many UHC alums have attended NGU over the years, so this is a natural fit for a strategic partnership,” said NGU Provost and Dean of the University Faculty Dr Nathan A. Finn.
For Fall 2020, NGU will provide courses in English Composition and Rhetoric, and College Algebra. For Spring 2021, NGU will provide courses in English Composition and Literature, and Probability and Statistics.
