Assistant Vice President of Student Life
Billy Watson is the Assistant VP of Student Life and has served the
University for 31 years. He is originally from Spartanburg, South
Carolina. Currently, Billy and his family reside in Tigerville. He holds
an Associate's Degree in Recreation, a Bachelor's Degree in Religion
and a Master's Degree in Christian Ministry from North Greenville
University. He has also studied at Clemson University. During his time
at North Greenville, Billy has served as Student Activities Coordinator,
Intramural Coordinator, Housing Coordinator, Head Soccer Coach,
Defensive Line Coach for the football team, Admissions Counselor, and
Director for Student Life for the last 12 years.
Beyond his official roles, Billy has been involved in many aspects
of campus life! He and his wife, Angie (a 21 year NGU staff member),
will celebrate 31 years of marriage in September of 2017. They have two
sons, Bill and John Michael. Bill works at NGU and he and his wife Julie
live in Tigerville. John Michael is a ninth grader at Blue Ridge High
School. Billy and his family are members of Locust Hill Baptist Church.
He and Angie work with the RA and GA program at their church. Billy also
serves as a commissioner for the Tigerville Fire Department.
When he's not in the office, Billy enjoys spending time with his
family, fishing, supporting his boys in their various pursuits, and
following the Atlanta Braves, Clemson Tigers and the North Greenville
Billy's goal in his ministry at North Greenville is to follow Jesus' example of service to others.
Secretary for Student Life
Carolyn joined the North Greenville family in October of 2007.
Majoring in music, she attended the University of South Carolina and
Furman University. She has served in music ministry at several churches
in the Golden Strip area of lower Greenville County.
Carolyn and her husband Bill have two children, Holly and Blake. Holly
is an alumna of North Greenville University and Blake is an alumnus of
The Citadel. She has two grandchildren, Jackson and Garrett.
Outside of work and enjoying her family, she loves to quilt.
Director of Student Life
email@example.comJared Thomas is the Director of Student Life and has been in this position since August of 2014. He also serves as an adjunct professor in the Psychology department here at NGU. He is originally from Gastonia, NC and attended NGU from 2006 until 2009. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Christian Studies from North Greenville in 09. From NGU, He moved to New Orleans, LA to attend New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminar. While at NOBTS he earned a Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy and a Theology Masters. He then completed his PhD. in Psychology and Counseling through NOBTS in 2017. His dissertation was focused on measuring potential support services that can increase student success in a university setting.
While a student at NOBTS, Jared worked as the seminary's Blackboard Administrator for 3 years before becoming their Assistant Registrar. He served in this position for 2 and a half years before accepting his current position at NGU.
Jared is also holds a provisional counseling license through SC (LPC-I #6288) and, along with the rest of the NGU counseling team, is very willing to counsel any student desiring help.
Jared currently lives in Tigerville, SC with his wife, Lindsay, and his two children, Turner-Clint and Liza Jill. In his free time, he loves to go on hikes with his family, play disc golf, or woodwork in his backyard shop. He loves to be around people and invites you to stop by his office anytime that he is available.
Director of Residence Life for Women
Lorry has served North Greenville University since
1998. She is responsible for the
overseeing of over 700 ladies within North Greenvilleís Resident Life
Department. Ms Green has several assistant
coordinators under her direction, which help her provide a Christian
environment in a residential setting.
She provides supervision and training for more than 34 female resident
assistants. Ms Green is involved in
every aspect of the studentís life in her care.
Lorry Green attended Southeastern Baptist Theological
Seminary and received her Masterís degree in Christian Education. She attended Baptist College of Charleston
and received her Bachelorís degree in Science.
Ms Green also attended North Greenville College were she received her
Associateís degree in General Studies.
After graduating from Seminary, she worked for the Georgia Baptist
Childrenís Home and Family Ministries.
In 1998, Ms Green moved back to South Carolina and started working for
North Greenville University. Lorry is
married to Daniel Green. They have one
daughter, Mary Ann Green.
Director of Residence Life for Men
Dillon Key is the Men's Residence Life Coordinator at North Greenville
University. Dillon is originally from Spartanburg, SC where he grew up.
He has a Bachelor's degree in History from North Greenville University
in Tigerville, SC. After graduation, Dillon worked at North Greenville
University as the Coordinator for Intramural Sports from 2010 until
2014. In 2014 he started his current position in the department of
Housing and Residence Life. Dillon currently lives in Tigerville, SC
with his wife Kim and his son Josiah. He is very excited about his
position with the University and is looking forward to continuing to
serve this campus for many years to come.
Director of Student Conduct
Atari Jarrett joined the Office of Student Life in June 2016 serving as the Director of Student Conduct. She officially joined the North Greenville family in January 2015. Atari attended Strayer University, where she also worked in their Business Office for 5 years. Atari and her husband have two children.
Director of Intramural Sports
Bill has served as the Director of Intramurals since June
2017. He comes to North Greenville from Shorter University in Rome, GA where he
served as the Assistant Director of Residence Life. He attended North
Greenville University from 2008 to 2012 when he received a Bachelor of Arts in
Broadcast Media. While a student at NGU, he was a member of the NGU Baseball
team and was a part of the 2010 NCCAA National Championship team. He was also
part of the WNGR radio broadcast team for football and basketball and co-hosted
a sports radio show twice a week.
Bill currently lives in Tigerville, SC with his wife,
Julie, and their pets. In his spare time he enjoys playing disc golf,
reading, watching movies, cheering for his favorite sports teams, and
spending time with his friends and family.
Director of Student Activities
Brittany Hendrix is the Director of Student Activities at North Greenville University. Brittany is originally from Inman, SC where she remains involved with her local church. She has a bachelorís degree in Interdisciplinarian Studies from North Greenville University with focuses in psychology and communications. After graduation, Brittany began working on her master's degree at Southeastern Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. Since moving back to Tigerville in 2016 to lead the Student Activities Department, she continues working to complete her master's degree at North Greenville University. She is very excited to once again be at home in Tigerville and loves serving the Crusader community.
Director of Career Planning
Stuart has been serving as the Director of Career Planning since 2016. He graduated from North Greenville University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies and a concentration in American Studies. Stuart is currently pursuing an M.B.A. from NGUís T. Walter Brashier Graduate School in Greer, SC. Additionally, Stuart serves as the Assistant Menís Housing Director and resides on campus. In his spare time, Stuart enjoys spending time developing student leaders, cheering on the Crusader sports teams, and playing disc golf.
Assistant Director of Residence Life - Facilities
Ed Mercier is the Facility Coordinator for Student Life, assisting the department with the maintenance of the residential facilities and assisting the student workers with their facility needs. He has worked in the student housing field since 2006, serving in multiple areas of the operation. He has served at North Greenville University since September of 2014 in both the Maintenance and Student Life departments. Ed has a Bachelor of Science from Louisiana State University and has two masters degrees from Regent University in Leadership and Divinity. He is currently taking continuing education classes in math at NGU.
Steve Bielby, ThM, LPC
Director of Counseling
Steve Bielby, ThM, LPC, received his Master of
Theology degree from Dallas Theological Seminary, and is a Licensed
Professional Counselor with the state of South Carolina. His career has
included working with college students, athletes and coaches through Cru
(formerly Campus Crusade for Christ), and as a singles pastor in a local church.
Since 1980, Steve has provided Biblical or licensed counseling on college
campuses, in inpatient and outpatient mental health facilities, and in private
practice. He currently serves as the North Greenville University Director of
Steve was born and raised in Holland, MI and is
the oldest of four brothers. As a high school senior in 1975 he saw the movie Time to Run and realized that he knew
about God but did not know God personally. After trusting in Jesus Christ to be
his Savior and Lord there were several things that especially impacted him as a
young Christian: close Christian friends, working as a counselor at a summer
youth camp, involvement with Cru in college, and the ICHTHUS Christian music
Athletics played a big part in Steveís life
growing up and was a significant reason for his going on staff with Cru and their
Athletes in Action ministry after graduation from college. Serving with them
allowed him to live and travel all over the U.S, go on mission trips to various
countries, and grow through different leadership roles.
Steve has been married to his wife Gina since
May of 1984. She works as the Manager of Provider Enrollment with Greenville
Health System. His daughter Shea is married and is an orthopedic surgeon with Greenville Health System. His son-in-law Seth is
on staff with Vox Bivium Christian Gap-Year School. His son Carson is a Clemson
University graduate and has his own live streaming event video business in Greenville, SC.
Hanging out with family, doing
sports and outdoor activities, reading, and eating breakfast out are some
things Steve really enjoys.
Student Life Counselor
Sara Black serves as a counselor for students. She has a Masterís
Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from New Orleans Baptist Theological
Seminary. She has also had experience counseling for the South Texas Childrenís
Home Ministries in Houston, Texas.
Originally from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Sara attended Samford
University and taught elementary school prior to pursuing the counseling
Sara has experience working with clients of all ages, but
feels especially called to minister to young adults. She has helped clients
work through a variety of issues, including, but not limited to: trauma, anxiety,
depression, relationships, communication, grief, life transitions, and
In her spare time, Sara enjoys spending time
with friends and family (including her little dog), serving the local church,
traveling, and watching football.
She places a major emphasis on counseling from a Biblical Worldview, which
provides clients the opportunity to evaluate their situations not only from a
psychological, but also spiritual perspective.
