Elementary Education Online Program Named Most Affordable for 2020

Tigerville, SC (May 11, 2020) OnlineU.org, an online resource for providing rankings based on affordability, accessibility, and quality for prospective students, has released its Most Affordable Online Programs rankings for 2020. North Greenville University’s (NGU) online elementary educational studies degree places at No. 22. The schools that make up the most affordable options for obtaining an online education degree price at less than $14,000.
Dr. Kathryn McColskey, chair of the NGU’s online elementary educational studies degree program, says she is thrilled to see the program is the only South Carolina school included in the rankings.
“More than being proud of the low cost of our program is the belief that our graduates are leaving the online program with a solid foundation of teaching and a strong belief in the power of their God to be the best teacher possible,” said McColskey.
NGU elementary educational studies students spend much of their time developing graphic organizers, creating videos, teaching through music and dancing, and reading children’s literature. Students will also explore creative teaching methods, make the classroom fun, and develop lesson plans.
The program offers online, on-campus, and virtual class sessions to provide adults with the most enhanced learning environments. It gives you a choice to shape your educational experience, fitting your life and learning style. In this flexible program, you can choose to complete your degree entirely online, or you can take advantage of a blended learning environment, which means a combination of both online or classroom classes.
Shannon Rabon (expected ’20), currently a 5K instructional assistant for Lexington County Schools District One, will graduate in May with her early childhood education degree. She says she learned about NGU from a family in her church that has children that attend traditional classes at NGU.
“I did a Google search of the best South Carolina Christian online programs, and NGU was the first to appear. I knew it was meant to be,” said Rabon.
Because Rabon’s teacher at her school encouraged her to seek teacher certification, she came to NGU to begin her education. When she graduates in May, she will enroll this summer in NGU’s certificate program for certification. Her first semester in August, she will be teaching as the teacher of record in the class while she earns her certification. In December, she will be certified and continue to teach in the class as a certified teacher.
“It is a wonderful program with caring, knowledgeable, and professional instructors,” said Rabon about NGU’s online degree program. “One of the first courses I completed was E-Learning. I strongly encourage this class for future online students. I learned so many things in this course that I used in all of my classes going forward. It greatly benefits those that lack confidence and knowledge in their computer skills. Computer literacy is a must to be successful in online courses.”

OnlineU.org collected program data, including available degrees, tuition rates, and details about program coursework from official school websites, reflecting data for the 2018-2019 school year. Acceptance rates, programmatic accreditation, and profit status of schools collected from official websites of the accreditation agencies or the National Center for Education Statistics.
In addition, NGU’s online elementary educational studies also earned a second honor in 2020 through OnlineSchoolsReport.org (OSR). NGU ranked No. 9 in the “Best Online Bachelor’s in Education Degrees.” OSR uses six data points to determine rankings which include: student satisfaction, admission rates, the number of programs the school offers online, the median debt of graduates from the program, degrees offered within that programs’ umbrella, and what percentage of students at that school graduated from that department.
