"I have the nerve to walk my own way, however hard, in my search for reality, rather than climb upon the rattling wagon of wishful illusions." -Zora Neale Hurston

Expertise
My main are of expertise is in English, literacy, and leadership. I earned my BA in Secondary English Language Arts Education, where I honed my writing, research, and grammatical skills, and I have applied that knowledge to pursuit of literacy trainings through the State Department of Education - specifically through the LETRS Science of Reading program. Through learning the ins and outs of the English language, the reading process, and how best to teach these skills to developing minds, I have gained quite a comprehensive knowledge of literacy strategies that can apply to the classroom across grade levels.

Research Interests
Much of my research up to this point has been on how different worldviews and philosophies affect the interpretation of literary text. This was research that I originally was required to conduct for a class, but it quickly became a passion of mine and I have continued to hone that research over the years. Somewhat similarly, while in my MEd program, I have been conducting research on leadership and conflict resolution styles and how those styles affect the work and classroom environment within the school system. This is something that I hope to continue to dig into as I begin the EdD program at NGU in the spring of 2025.

Professional Experience
I worked as a 9th grade English teacher in Anderson 5, then transitioned out of the classroom in 2022, at which point I came back to the College of Education at NGU as the Academic Secretary. I have been able to hone both my teaching and pedagogical skills, as well as my organizational and data gathering skills through my experience and I am excited to apply these skills as a faculty member.
