Professional Experience
My expertise revolves around my clinical training and working at an inpatient psychiatric facility for two years. I am trained in multiple assessment measures for intelligence and diagnostic purposes. I also am fascinated with psychology of learning. You will learn with me when taking courses in General Psychology, Psychology of Learning, and Social Psychology.
Upon receiving my MS in Applied Clinical Psychology, I completed extensive training in therapy, assessment, and research. My master’s thesis investigated yearning as a variable in relation to attachment and grieving styles. While in graduate school, I was a teacher’s assistant which increased my love for education and sharing knowledge with students. After I graduated, I moved back to Greer and began working at an inpatient psychiatric facility in the assessment office. This position helped me apply that knowledge which prepared me for teaching at NGU and helps me to provide real-world applications for my students.
My research interests include principles of learning, grief/loss, yearning, and attachment. My thesis examined yearning as the explanatory variable for the relation between attachment dimensions and reactions to the death of a loved one.

My Story
While I was an undergraduate, I was determined that I would go into a PhD program after graduating and get a degree in clinical psychology. God redirected me to obtain my Masters, which in an ironic turn of events, I discovered that clinical was not the route I wanted to pursue. I came back home to Greer and started as an Intake Assessment Counselor in the assessment office of a psychiatric facility. After a year and a half of searching for something different, God opened the door at NGU through an Indeed job posting, and the rest is history. I was thrilled with the position at NGU that provided the opportunity to combine two of my favorite things, my faith in Jesus and Psychology. I have known about NGU since I was little, as I grew up right across the street at Tigerville Elementary School, where I attended, and my mother taught. Starting my teaching career here already feels like I am home.
