NGU, HIS Radio 89.3 Host National Day of Prayer Virtual Event

Tigerville, SC (May 3, 2021) North Greenville University (NGU), in partnership with HIS Radio 89.3, will be hosting a National Day of Prayer Virtual Event Thursday, May 6, from 12-12:45 p.m. from NGU’s Tigerville Campus in Tigerville. NGU President Gene C. Fant, Jr., and Assistant Vice President for Advancement and Alumni Engagement Lamont Sullivan (’98, M.A. ’12) will lead in prayer for our local, state, national leaders, NGU, community, and nation.
Everyone is invited to tune in to virtually participate in the prayer service. The service will be live-streamed at noon on the HIS Radio 89.3 and NGU Facebook page.
“The National Day of Prayer’s theme this year is Lord pour out Your Love, Life, and Liberty. With all the divisions, oppression, and violence in our world, we need a spiritual awakening that will advance the cause of Christ,” said NGU Senior Campus Pastor and Chief Spiritual Formation Officer Dr. Steve Crouse. “Every spiritual awakening across history was birthed in the prayers of God’s people. May the Lord send revival again, calling many to salvation and unity through the body of Christ to our world.”
Assistant Vice President for Greer Campus Operations Justin Pitts (’07, MBA ’12) says, “We are excited and expectant as we once again partner with our great friends at HIS Radio 89.3 for our National Day of Prayer Event. This year’s event will be virtual, providing the opportunity for folks from all over the nation and world to join together in prayer.”
The National Day of Prayer, first established by President Abraham Lincoln as the official Thanksgiving holiday in 1863 and then observed later by President Harry S. Truman in 1952 on the first Thursday of May, is an annual day of observance when people are asked to turn to God in prayer and meditation. The sitting president is required by law to sign a proclamation each year, encouraging all Americans to pray on this day.
