Lamont Sullivan, the youngest of six children, was born and raised in a single-parent home in the Section 8 Housing projects of City Heights Apartments in Greenville, SC. Lamont is a Hall of Fame athlete and 1994 graduate of Travelers Rest High School and a first-generation three-time graduate of NGU.
He earned an associate’s, bachelor’s in interdisciplinary studies, and a master’s in Christian ministry. The diverse NGU ministry opportunities, collegiate athletic experiences, and cherished friendships prepared Lamont to leave Tigerville and serve the community well.
For eighteen years, Lamont built a successful career at Big Brothers, Big Sisters of the Upstate. Lamont worked his way through the organization, eventually becoming president/chief executive officer from 2015 to 2019. In June of 2019, Lamont was hired at NGU as the director of alumni engagement.
Lamont was called to serve as the first Youth Pastor in the 100-plus history of Flat Rock Baptist Church in Moonville, SC, under NGU alumni Pastor Christopher Scott’s leadership from 2010-2012. In 2013, Lamont and his family were called to serve Bethlehem Baptist Church in Simpsonville, SC, as the Youth Ministry Director under Pastor Dr. Phillip Baldwin’s leadership from 2013-2016.
