Christian Ministry Scholarship
About the Christian Ministry Scholarship
The Christian Ministry Scholarship Fund (CMSF) supports undergraduate students called to a Christian ministry. Founded in 1997 by 85 charter members, the CMSF endowment has surpassed $5 million, with 100% of proceeds applied to scholarships.
Today, graduates are making a difference worldwide as pastors, youth ministers, missionaries, church planters, worship leaders, chaplains, counselors, educators, parachurch leaders, non-profit workers, and more.
Christian Ministry Scholarship Requirements
- Students applying for the CSMF must be born again Christians who are answering God’s call to a Christian ministry.
- Scholarship applicants are required to have been accepted by the Office of Admissions to North Greenville University or must be currently enrolled students at the University in a traditional undergraduate degree program. Students pursuing an online or graduate level program are not eligible for a scholarship.
- Applicants must submit a letter of recommendation from their pastor along with a completed application.
- Recipients will exemplify an authentic, growing relationship with Christ marked by godliness, consistency, and integrity.
- Recipients must study to show themselves approved unto God (2 Tim 2:15), maintaining at least a 2.5 GPA while at North Greenville University. Students who fall below a 2.5 GPA threshold at the end of the spring semester will lose their scholarship. They may reapply for the scholarship after their GPA rises to a 2.5 or above.
- Recipients are expected to be involved in weekly worship and ministry at a local church.
- All recipients are expected to attend the three CMSF dinners (September, January, and April) each academic year.
- Scholarship recipients are asked to share the ministry of the organization with friends and churches encouraging them to become members.
- Scholarship recipients are encouraged to become members of the CMSF organization when they graduate. As members, they will join others in the mission of equipping the next generation of ministers to prepare for the work that God is calling them to fulfill.
- The CMSF Scholarship is designed for students planning to serve in full-time ministry after graduation. Scholarship recipients who change career/ministry plans and no longer desire to work in a full-time ministry capacity must notify the CMSF office at CMSF@ngu.edu. Recipients should also contact NGU’s Financial Aid Office at financial.information@ngu.edu about potential alternative financial aid opportunities, as the CMSF scholarship will be forfeited when a student’s ministry plans change.
- Prior to graduating, recipients will provide the NGU Alumni Engagement Office with their contact information for future updates.
- ALL FIRST-TIME RECIPIENTS MUST PARTICIPATE IN AN INTERVIEW WITH THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CMSF. Applications must be submitted by January 31 each year.
