Tigerville, SC—North Greenville University (NGU) College of Business and Entrepreneurship alumni Avery Shope (‘26) presented the paper she wrote for her senior honors project at this year’s Christian Business Faculty Association (CBFA) annual conference in Florida.

The paper was submitted by her professor, Dr. John Duncan, who served as editor and co-author during the process

“I feel really honored that I have the chance to present this paper,” said Shope.

“The paper had to meet the CBFA’s required standards of both academic rigor and faith integration,” said Duncan, dean of the College of Business and Entrepreneurship at NGU. “She is one of the most outstanding and well-rounded students that I’ve encountered during my 35+ years of teaching at the university level. Avery was loved and respected by everyone who knew her during her time at NGU. She was a pleasure to teach and to interact with.”

Her paper is titled, “A Review of the Compatibility of Women, the Accounting Profession, Working from Home, and Being a Stay-at-Home Mother.”

Shope’s paper went through an anonymous review process and was accepted in the Research Incubator track at the CBFA.

“I’m really thankful that people want to invest in that and also thankful for the experience of getting to present in front of people,” said Shope.

Duncan, who had Shope in his Personal Finance Stewardship class during her freshman year, said he has seen her grow intellectually, spiritually, emotionally, and relationally during her four years at NGU.

“I’m sure that she will continue to excel in every area of life as she transitions from life as a student to life as a professional who understands that business is ministry,” said Duncan.

NGU’s College of Business and Entrepreneurship offers traditional and online undergraduate degrees as well as graduate level programs.
