• My Story

  I hold degrees in Music Education and Flute Performance and have taught flute for 45 years. I’ve taught as a university professor and maintained a private studio, with students ranging from young beginners to senior citizens. My students have been accepted into prestigious graduate schools, and several pre-college students have been selected as winners at state and regional MTNA competitions.

  A co-founder of the South Carolina Flute Society, I have held multiple offices in the organization and coordinated Tadeu Coelho’s Inspiration and Praise Flute Masterclass for nine years. I’ve performed as a studio flutist for audio and film recordings for multiple Christian recording companies and have served as an adjudicator for numerous competitions. I’ve conducted flute choirs at multiple conventions, including the National Flute Association Convention, and have presented workshops at the NFA Convention, SC Flute Society Festivals, and the Florida Flute Convention. An article about my research on late-19th-century flute history was published in the Flutist Quarterly. I also recently published a devotional book, Lessons from Teaching: Reflections on Flute and Faith.
