  • My Story

I am passionate about helping others grow and flourish in their human relationships. My doctoral experience merged interpersonal communication, psychology, and social psychology, where I researched and published early on concerning marital, relationship, and personal boundaries. I have a heart for teaching, research, and writing on topics such as marriage, parenting, and premarital cohesion/boundaries; the self and relationship management; nonverbal communication; social persuasion in culture; and cultural and political conservatism.

I teach a range of courses under the umbrella of interpersonal and intrapersonal communication. I’ve enjoyed publishing for both academic journals and mainstream magazines, speaking at seminars and conferences, and contributing to radio and relationship-based podcasts.

I grew up in northwest Indiana, where I surprisingly actually enjoyed the cold winter weather. I’ve taught both undergraduate and graduate courses for over fifteen years, and equal to my love for teaching, I relish opportunities to mentor others as they navigate their relationships. In my downtime, I love spending time with my lovely wife, our precious children and our sweet pup; weightlifting in our home gym and relaxing in my Duck Dynasty camo recliner.
