A New Chapter
Howard Hall Renovations
Howard Hall: A New Chapter
A new chapter is coming to one of North Greenville University’s most historic residence halls.
North Greenville University is transforming Howard Hall, the second-oldest residence hall on the Tigerville campus, into a modern residential and community gathering space designed to bring students together. NGU is investing $4.3 million in the Howard Hall renovation, reinforcing an ongoing commitment to campus and student life improvements. The general contractor for the project is Triangle Construction Company of Greenville.
The Howard Hall project is a continuation of NGU’s campus enhancement plan, which has prioritized renovation projects across the Tigerville campus, including the Robert W. Plaster Free Enterprise Center, Neves Hall and NGU Central, and Moore Hall in Hayes Ministry Center. These projects, along with the effort in Howard Hall, come without NGU taking on any long-term interest-bearing debt.
Welcome Home!
Howard Hall is going to be a place to live and a place to belong. Community is at the heart of the Howard Hall renovation and the redesigned building will feature spaces throughout the living areas, hallways and common areas where students can gather, unwind and build relationships.
Intentional Design
The renovation will feature an apartment-style design rather than the traditional suite configuration, creating a new living environment designed with community in mind. Two distinct areas will include:
Community Gathering Space. A dedicated space for students and the broader community to gather, unwind and interact.
Residential Hallway. Newly renovated apartment-style living spaces for female students.
More Room to Gather
The renovation will also transform the connecting space between Howard Hall and Simpson Hall. The area will provide laundry facilities and additional gathering space for students. Together, these new spaces will give students more places to connect, relax and experience the community that makes NGU feel like home.
Honoring the Past. Building the Future.
Dedicated in 1964, Howard Hall has been part of the North Greenville campus for more than 60 years. The building was named for Dr. Henry J. Howard, who began serving as the school’s dean of instruction in 1949 and helped guide the school through its accreditation process. Apart from a lounge renovation in 1993, Howard Hall has remained in its original form. Now, NGU is restoring and reimagining the space while honoring the legacy that has made Howard Hall part of the university’s story.
